Best Business Internet Options in Brisbane, 2026

Check What's Available at Your Address

The fastest way to know what you can actually get is to check serviceability at your exact address - plans and technology vary street by street.

For most Brisbane small businesses, "which internet plan should we get" is a five-minute decision that ends up mattering for the next two or three years. Getting it right the first time saves you a painful mid-contract upgrade later. Here's how NBN, business fibre, and 5G actually compare in practice - not just on paper.

NBN Business Plans

NBN is still the default choice for most small offices, retail spaces, and home-based businesses in Brisbane, and for good reason - it's available almost everywhere, pricing is competitive, and speeds from 50Mbps up to 1000Mbps (on FTTP connections) cover the large majority of business needs.

What to actually look for in an NBN business plan:

Static IP address: Needed if you run a server, VPN, or remote access setup - not included by default on every plan.
Business-grade SLA: Consumer NBN plans have no guaranteed fix time if something breaks. A business plan should come with a defined response time.
Upload speed, not just download: If your team uploads large files, does video calls all day, or backs up to the cloud, upload speed matters as much as the headline download number.
Connection type: FTTP (fibre to the premises) and HFC generally outperform FTTN/FTTC on the same "speed tier" - worth checking which one is actually available at your address.

Business Fibre (Dedicated Fibre)

Dedicated business fibre - sometimes called "enterprise fibre" - is a step up from NBN: it's a direct fibre connection just for your business, not shared infrastructure, with symmetrical speeds (upload matches download) and much stronger SLAs.

It costs more than NBN and isn't available at every address, but it's worth considering if you: run mission-critical systems where downtime directly costs money, need guaranteed upload speed (large file transfer, hosting your own services), or have more than roughly 15-20 staff relying on the same connection.

5G Business Internet

5G has become a genuinely credible option for many Brisbane businesses in the last couple of years, not just a backup. It's worth considering as your primary connection if you're in a location with strong 5G coverage and want to avoid a wait for NBN installation, or as a secondary/failover connection so you're never fully offline if your primary line drops.

The main trade-off is consistency - performance can vary more than a fixed-line connection depending on network congestion and your exact location, so it's worth testing at your address before committing it as your only connection.

So Which One Should You Choose?

Most small offices and retail businesses: NBN business plan with a static IP and a business SLA is the sensible default.
Businesses where downtime costs real money, or with heavy upload needs: Business fibre, if it's available at your address.
New premises, or want redundancy: 5G as either your main connection or a backup to whatever fixed-line option you choose.

The honest answer is that serviceability varies enormously by exact address in Brisbane - two businesses on the same street can have different options available. Rather than guessing from general advice, check what's actually available at your address, and our team can talk you through the real trade-offs for your situation.
